It’s December and my vacation mood is already on. There is a bunch of movies releasing this December and I can’t keep calm. Here’s a list of all the shows and movies that I’m excited about this December.

Theatrical Releases in December 2021

1.Marakkar: Arabikadalinde Simham (Malayalam)

Release Date: Dec 2

There was a tug of war going on for this film between OTT and theatrical release, and theatrical release won. Though Amazon Prime had bagged the rights for the film, after lots of discussions, the film was decided to release in theatres only. Heavy bookings have been reported for this large-scale film. The film was initially scheduled to be released in March 2020, but the pandemic delayed the release by almost two years. The film has an ensemble star cast, making it one of the most exciting Malayalam releases.

 

2.Pushpa (Telugu)

Release Date: 17 Dec

What got me excited about Pushpa was Fahad Fasil’s negative role in the film. The first look of the actor in the film was revealed by the makers in August 2021. This film is the first installment of the Pushpa franchise. Allu Arjun plays the titular character and Rashmika Mandanna plays the female protagonist. Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s special dance number is really going to spice things up.

 

3. 83 (Hindi)

Release Date: 24 Dec

I have never been a fan of Bollywood’s incessant remakes and sports biopics. But 83 does not fall in that category. It is a film, that we as Indians, really need to explore. 83 tells the extraordinary story of the Indian Cricket Team that created history at Lords Stadium by winning the World Cup in 1983. Ranvir
Singh essays the role of the then captain of the Indian Cricket Team, Kapil Dev. Deepika Padukone joins the cast as Kapil Dev’s wife Romi Bhatia. I am a huge fan of Kabir Khan’s work and I’m sure that this one might be his best work till today.

 

4.Jersey (Hindi)

Release Date: 31 Dec (subject to change)

Jersey is the official remake of the Telugu movie of the same name. The Telugu movie was a highly successful film and told a story that melted our hearts. My admiration for Nani, who played the male protagonist in Jersey, only soared. Shahid Kapoor is a promising lead for the Hindi remake. Let us wait and watch whether he can live up to Nani’s brilliance.

 

Netflix Releases of December 2021

7.Minnal Murali (Malayalam)

Release Date: 24 Dec

Minnal Murali is a movie that many, including me, were hoping to enjoy at the theatres. Unfortunately, that is not happening and we will have to enjoy the film on Netflix. The trailer of the film dropped later in October and had received immense love from the audience. Finally, Kerala is getting its own superhero. What is fascinating is that this superhero is a ‘thani Malayali‘.

 

8. Money Heist Season 5 Volume 2

Release Date: 03 Dec

The fan following for Money Heist in India is unbelievable. Everyone is eager to know how this amazing thriller is going to come to an end.

 

9.Emily in Paris Season 2

Release Date: 22 Dec

I have just started watching Emily in Paris Season 1. The show is interesting and sweet and I have high hopes with Season 2.

 

10.Decoupled

Release Date: 17 Dec

Decoupled is an upcoming series on Netflix that stars R Madhavan and Surveen Chawla in the lead roles. The actors play mutually separated couples who decide to live under the same roof for the sake of their daughter. The plot seems one of a kind for Indian audience.

11. Inside Edge Season 3 (Prime)

Release Date: 03 Dec

After a long break, Amazon Prime is all set to stream the third season of Inside Edge, a thrilling sports drama. The series has an ensemble cast including Vivek Oberoi, Richa Chaddha, Sidhanth Chaturvedi, Angad Bedi and more.

 

12. Aarya season 2 (Hotstar)

Release Date: 10 Dec

Sushmita Sen is back with her killer web series Aarya. I kind of got a badass female don vibe from the trailer of Aarya Season 2. Also, it is always fulfilling to watch Sushmita back on screen.

 

13. Atrangi Re (Hotstar)

Release Date: 24 Dec 

It is not every day that you get to see a unique and exciting storyline in Bollywood. Atrangi Re’s trailer seemed quite promising and the cast of the film is yet another exciting element of the film. The song ‘Chaka Chaka‘ composed by A R Rahman is already on the top charts.
