Hindi Movies on ZEE5 that you need to watch
With a hike in our dependency on digital platforms for entertainment, several new OTT platforms have taken birth. ZEE5 is one of the latest additions to the list. Though the platform may not have a lot of original shows or series, it does have some worth-watching Hindi movies. Here’s a list of Hindi movies on ZEE5 that you will love.
1.Uri: The surgical strike (2019)
Uri, the film that fetched Vicky Kaushal National Award for Best Actor, is based on the Uri attack that happened in 2016. Vicky Kaushal plays Major Vihaan Singh Kaushal, who is determined to take down the enemy after losing his kins in the Uri attack. He plans for a surgical strike and executes the mission to perfection. Vicky’s performance elevates the whole narrative to a new horizon. We feel for the country and the brave men at the borders who are struggling to keep the nation safe.
2. Saand Ki Aankh (2019)
Based on the lives of sharpshooters Chandro Tomar and Prakashi Tomar, Saand Ki Aankh is a biographical drama that entertains us throughout. Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar play the lead roles and cover the lives of the Tomar sisters from their teens to their seventies. Though both Bhumi and Taapsee were lauded for their performances, actors Neena Gupta and Soni Razdan expressed their disagreement in casting young actors for the portrayal of women in their seventies.
3. Mulk (2018)
Starring Taapsee Pannu and Rishi Kapoor, Mulk is a courtroom drama directed by Anubhav Sinha. The film is an eye-opener on how we have succumbed to islamophobia. Our prejudiced notions for a certain section of society have impacted the way we treat them. It is this prejudiced notion that Anubhav Sinha tries to question through his film Mulk. The performances by the leading actors are terrific.

4. Kedarnath (2018)
Kedarnath is a romantic drama directed by Abhishek Kapoor. The film is loosely based on the Uttarakhand floods of 2013. Kedarnath also marks the debut of Sara Ali Khan, the daughter of actors Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh. Her performance as a newcomer is satisfactory. Kedarnath is the story of a young couple belonging to different religions. How they dodge away from all the communal differences and hold tight their love for each other is what the film is all about. The graphics used for the flood scenes needs a special mention.
5. Qarib Qarib Single (2018)
Irrfan Khan creates magic every time he is on screen. Qarib Qarib Single is no different. The film has Irrfan Khan and Parvathy Thiruvoth as the lead pairs. Parvathy in her Bollywood debut, plays Jaya, a 35-year-old widow who is always taken for granted. Irrfan plays Yogi, a happy-to-go man who is full of life. They meet on a dating app and thus begin their quirky love story. The film is hilarious (kudos to Irrfan for his impeccable comic timing) and leaves you with a sweet smile.
6. Veere Di Wedding (2020)
Though we have had several male buddy movies, a female buddy film has never been on the cards. Veere Di Wedding makes up for it. The film is about female friends who reunite after a long time for their friend Kalindi’s wedding. How each of them deals with their own set of problems without giving up on their friendship is what the film is all about.
