Best Hindi Films to Watch on Hotstar (Disney+Hotstar)

Hotstar maybe still struggling to make it to the top in the OTT race, but one can not deny that it’s a treasure house of some really amazing Bollywood films. To make you convince the same, here’s a list of some of the best Hindi films on Hotstar.

1.Ek villain

Ek villain is probably the only film that utilized Ritesh Deshmukh’s potential as an actor. The film is a cat and mouse chase game with some really thrilling sequences. With some beautiful songs, drama, and action, Ek Villain is a complete package.

2. Masaan

Devi from Masaan-Hotstar-hindi-films

Masaan is not just about the spectacular performances by all the actors but also about lost love, finding yourself and learning to live. No matter how much I love this film, I think it is not everyone’s cup of coffee. It is intense, it is depressing and it is soulful. Set in the lush and serene location of Varanasi, the film tells the story of three youngsters who are left to learn the world all by themselves.

3. Pink

No means no, let it be your wife, girlfriend, or a sex worker. There’s no film in the history of Indian cinema that speaks this message so loud and clear. Indian industry has endorsed objectification and disregarded the need for female consent. Now the same cinema tries to stand against the same. Backed by some really powerful performances, pink is one of the best courtroom dramas ever made in Indian cinema.

4. Talvar

Based on the 2008 Aarushi talwar case, Meghna Gulzar directorial Talwaar follows the investigation of the case from three different perspectives. It digs deeper into the whodunnit crime thriller that is sure to leave you baffled.

5. Chhapaak

Starring Deepika Padukone, chapaak is a story of an acid attack survivor who sets out to change the law against acid distribution in the market. It is loosely based on the life of acid attack survivor Lakshmi who suffered brutal injuries due to an acid attack in 2007. Chhapaak is really gripping and to be honest, hard to watch the film. It stands out in reflecting the feelings and misery an acid attack victim goes through.

6. Bol Bacchan

Personally, for me, Bol Bachchan is Rohit Shetty’s funniest film ever. It makes use of the comedian in Ajay Devgan rather well and not to mention the hilarious Abhishek Bachchan. Though there may not be any logic to the film, it’s definitely not a usual slapstick kind of comedy film. I can guarantee you some genuine shreds of laughter. If you are in for a light-hearted comedy film, this is a must-watch.

7. Jolly LLB 2

Jolly LLB 2 is yet another socially relevant courtroom drama that takes a dig at fake encounters by corrupt police officers. Akshay Kumar plays jolly, a lazy irresponsible lawyer who feels awakened after a series of incidents. He single-handedly tries to bring down the system that supports and endorses fake encounters.

8. Bajrangi Bhaijan

It’s not always that you see the actor in Salman Khan. In Bajrangi Bhaijan Salman plays Pawan Kumar Chaturvedi, an ardent devotee of Lord Hanuman. He comes across a Pakistani girl who is apparently lost in India. He takes it into his shoulder to safely send her back to her parents in Pakistan. The interesting incidents that follow make the core of the film.
