Nanban is the Tamil remake of the blockbuster Bollywood film 3 Idiots. Vijay, Jiiva, and Srikanth play the lead in this film. Director Sankar’s films are always happening. They are rich in colors and visuals. The same is the case with Nanban too. Though the story remains the same, there’s an obvious variation in the making, catering primarily to the taste of the Tamil audience.

10. Raja Rani

I can watch this film forever and still not get bored! Atlee’s Raja Rani is a take on life after breakups and failed relationships. Teddy is a medical action thriller starring Arya and Sayyesha in the lead roles. The film is refreshing with its animation and unique storytelling. Sree’s (played by Sayyesha) soul gets transferred to a Teddy bear (I know right!) and she goes to Shiva (played by Arya) for help. Shiva is a person with sharp learning skills and helps Sree find out about her whereabouts. The film is directed by Shakthi Soundar Rajan.

12. OK Kanmani

There’s only one name when it comes to romantic dramas and that is Mani Ratnam. In OK Kanmani, Mani Ratnam veers away from his usual narrative of tragedy and communal conflict and presents a rom-com that appeals more to the younger audience. The film stars Dulquer Salman and Nithya Menen. The film was remade in Hindi as OK Jaanu starring Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor.

13. Cuckoo

Cuckoo is a story about two visually impaired couples Tamizh (played by Dinesh Ravi) and Kodi (played by Malavika Nair). Life is never easy for such people and Tamizh and Kodi go through several challenges before finally reuniting forever. The film went on to receive rave reviews and is a must-watch.

14. Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Eppadi

Starring Amala Paul and Siddharth, Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Eppadi is a romantic comedy about two engineering students. They both come from different backgrounds and hence have a little trouble maintaining their relationship. How do they overcome the odds and stand true to their love is what the film is all about.
