6 Best Movies of Sushmita Sen to Watch
If you are an ardent fan of the former Miss Universe, then here’s a list of her finest films that you cannot miss
Sushmita Sen is the first person who comes to our minds when we think of beauty with brains. It is rare to find women who live their life on their own terms and Sushmita Sen is indeed one of them. She has inspired a generation with her wits and charms. Though she brought home the coveted Miss Universe in the year 1994, at the age of 19, Sushmita has been very selective of the films she does. Here’s a list of some of the best films of Sushmita Sen.
1.Main Hoon Na (2004)
Who can forget the charming Chemistry teacher in Main Hoon Na! Though the film was male-centric, Sushmita stole the show with her enduring grace. Her sexy red chiffon saree and sizzling chemistry with Shahrukh Khan make the film a complete entertainer. The film was commercially and critically successful.
2. Biwi No.1 (1999)
Sushmita plays a model, Rupali in this David Dhawan comedy. She finds herself stuck in the love triangle that includes Salman Khan and Karishma Kapoor. The film was widely appreciated for its storytelling and comic timing and went on to become the second highest-grossing film of the year. It wasn’t common to see Sushmita doing comedy roles at those times and that is definitely another highlight of Biwi No.1. The film also stars Anil Kapoor and Tabu in supporting roles.
3. Aankhen (2002)
An intriguing money heist film, Aankhen revolves around bank manager Vijay Singh Rajput (Amitabh Bachchan) and three blind men. Sushmita plays Neha, a blind school teacher who is blackmailed to teach the three blind men how to rob a bank. The movie is filled with some thrilling sequences and keeps you at the edge of your seat.
4. Maine Pyaar Kyu Kiya (2005)
Maine Pyaar Kyu Kiya is the Bollywood adaptation of the 1969 Hollywood film Cactus Flower. Samir (Salman Khan) is a very successful doctor who has a way with women. However, he gets cold feet when he hears of “commitment”. Sushmita plays Naina, a nurse in the same hospital as Sameer, and has a secret crush on Sameer. Sameer hits on a beautiful girl Neha (Katrina Kaif) but he tells her that he is married. Now Neha asks him to introduce his wife to her and he begs Naina to act as his wife for the time being. The hilarious events that follow make up the rest of the film.
5. Filhaal (2002)
It might be a new piece of information to you when I tell you that Filhaal was Meghna Gulzar’s directorial debut. The film deals with infertility, surrogacy, and how they impact relationships. Rewa (played by Tabu) and Sia (Sushmita Sen) are inseparable best friends. Rewa finds happiness in getting married and having a family while Sia is more focused on her career. However, Rewa falls into depression knowing that she is incapable of conceiving. Sia offers to become the surrogate of her child but things become messy between the two best friends. How they deal with all the circumstances and hold on tight to their friendship is what the film is all about.
6. Samay: When Time Strikes (2003)
The film is based on the 1995 film Se7en, starring Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt. This is the first time Sushmita plays a cop and does total justice to her role. Sushmita plays Malvika Chauhan, a widowed cop with a 10-year-old daughter who is assigned to investigate the murder of a reputed businessman. A really enthralling crime thriller, the film has several twists and turns and the killer even plays games with Malvika (Sushmita).
