Ramadan releases to watch out for this weekend!
It’s Ramadan season and theatres are all set to make this festive weekend even better with some piping hot releases. Here are some of the most anticipated movies releasing this weekend owing to the holy Ramadan celebration.
1.CBI 5: The Brain (Malayalam)
Release Date: 1 May 2022
The CBI franchise is one of the most loved ones in the Malayalam cinema industry. It is centered around the CBI team helmed by the famous Sethurama Iyer who solves the most difficult crimes of all with wit and knowledge. Every film usually has a set of recurring characters but in an entirely new crime scene. CBI 5: The Brain is the fifth installment of this series and the hype around the film has already peaked significantly. It not only marks the return of the iconic Mammootty character but also marks the return of the veteran actor Jagathy Sreekumar who had stepped back from the movies succumbing to his accident. The movie is made by the same director-writer combo- K. Madhu and SN Swamy who have made the previous CBI movies as well.
2.Jana Gana Mana (Malayalam)
Release Date: 28 April 2022
The trailer of Jana Gana Mana really caught everyone’s fancy. Unlike usual trailers which are a compilation of some clips from the movie, Jana Gana Mana’s trailer had a single shot that kept us hooked till the end. Surprisingly, the scene that was made into the trailer is said to be from the sequel to this film. What is the film about is still not very clear though curiosity has been successfully generated. The film stars Prithviraj Sukumaran, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Vincy Aloshious and Mamta Mohandas in the lead roles. The film is directed by Dijo Jose Antony (noted for directing Malayalam film Queen) and is produced by Listin Stephen and Supriya Menon.
3. Makal (Malayalam)
Release Date: 29 April 2022
It is interesting to note how most Malayalam movies releasing this Ramdan season are special in several ways. Makal not marks the comeback of celebrated actress Meera Jasmine but also marks the reunion of Sathyan Anthikad and Jayaram after a very long time. Malayalis crave the goodness in Sathyan Anthikad movies. Hopefully, Makal would be worth the wait. The film explores the family dynamics when the father returns from Gulf forever to his family. Hopefully, we will get to see the beauty of family and relationships in this Sathyan Anthikad movie.
4. Runway 34 (Hindi)
Release Date: 29 April 2022
Directed and produced by actor Ajay Devgn, Runway 34 takes inspiration from the true incidents that happened on the misty dew morning of 18 August 2015. Jet Airways Doha to Kochi, a Boeing 737-800 had a narrow escape while landing due to bad weather conditions. Using this as the premise, Ajay Devgn has brought together an ensemble cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Boman Irani, and Angira Dhar to present us with a thrilling Ramdan gift. Let’s see how good the film turns out to be.

5. Heropanti 2 (Hindi)
Release Date: 29 April 2022
Personally, I’m not a fan of these kinds of Bollywood films but there is an audience that enjoys these kinds of Bollywood masala movies. Heropanti 2 is the sequel to the film Heropanti, which marked the debut of Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon. Though the female lead for Heropanti 2 is Tara Sutaria this time, Kriti does return for a special song in the film. What surprised me most is that AR Rahman has composed the song for Heropanti 2.
6. Kaathuvakula Rendu Kaadhal (Tamil)
Release Date: 28 April 2022
The cast of Kaathuvakula Rendu Kaadhal is a crowd puller. Vijay Sethupathy, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and Nayanthara, three of south India’s most loved actors are coming together for an exciting and fun romantic comedy which is directed by Vignesh Shivan. The trailer, songs, and sneak-peeks have led to high expectations for the audience. Music directed by Anirudh Ravichander has already topped the charts. The release of the film coincides with Samantha’s birthday.
