Autobiographies of Famous Actors and Filmmakers that are must read!

How easy do you think the journey to stardom is? Is it all about luck and timing or persistent hard work? Every star that we admire today has a story to tell, a story of hardships, a story of making it on own in this extremely competitive world. We are seldom made aware of these hardships. Few however were kind enough to pen it down and present it to the world. Here’s a look at five such great books by famous actors and film makers.

1.GREEN LIGHTS BY MATTHEW McCONAUGHEY

A collection of stories, prayers, poems, people and places and a whole bunch of bumper stickers’, that’s how the much loved Hollywood actor Matthew McConaughey describes his book. The book takes inspiration from diaries and journals Matthew wrote since the age of fourteen. Did you know that Matthew retreated to the desert for 52 days in order to write this book?

The book was published in October 2020 and was ranked number one on New York Time’s non-fiction best seller. Don’t read it because you are an ardent fan of McConaughey, but read it because it is a collection of great stories.

2.UNFINISHED BY PRIYANKA CHOPRA

Priyanka Chopra, after almost two decades in the entertainment business, continues to inspire us. A girl with no movie background, a girl who was mocked for her complexion and ethnicity went on to make it big globally. As the former Miss India and Miss World continues her reign, go read her recently released autobiography ‘Unfinished’. It’s a medium to get to know your favorite actor a little better. With Unfinished, Priyanka Chopra takes us on a short ride of her life so far. 

3.THE BEAUTY OF LIVING TWICE BY SHARON STONE

An extravagant personal revelation, The beauty of living twice by Sharon Stone explores her childhood trauma and the toxicity of Hollywood. She reminisces her childhood, where she was abused, physically and emotionally by several people, including her parents. She even confesses about an abortion that she had undergo while still a teenager. The 63-year-old model turned actor had quite an eventful life. “There is something that happens when you start over, live again”, she writes, “a kind of mystery unraveling.”

4.BOSSY PANTS BY TINA FEY

Tina Fey is undoubtedly one of the best comics in the world. Her autobiography, just like her, is funny and witty. Upon its release, the book topped the New York Best Seller for several weeks. The book peeks into the highs and lows of Tina Fey’s life. 

5.SATYAJIT RAY, INNER EYE- THE BIOGRAPHY OF A MASTER FILMMAKER

Satyajit Ray is one if the greatest filmmakers the world has ever known. His work will continue to inspire the generation to come. There was magic in his craft and the way he presented his stories. His irreplaceable craftsmanship in the world of cinema earned him the title of the first Indian to win the honorary Academy Award in 1992, just 24 days before his death. Though Ray himself never wrote his biography, British writer Andrew Robinson took it on his shoulders to tell the story of this amazing story teller. The book takes inspiration from several interviews with Ray himself.
