Best Hindi Comedy Movies on Netflix for a good laugh!
When I think of Netflix, what first comes to mind are thrillers, intense dramas, murder mysteries, and so on. It wasn’t until recently that I realized Netflix is not just a place for dark movies and shows but also a place for some light-hearted fun. So, here’s me sharing some discoveries I made on Netflix; presenting you with the best Hindi comedy movies on Netflix.
1. 3 Idiots
Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, 3 Idiots is one of the best movies of the century that magnifies the flawed educational system but with a coat of humor. The film stars Amir Khan, R. Madhavan, and Sharman Joshi in the lead roles. They play three engineering students dealing with different issues related to the education structure of our country. The movie makes us laugh, cry, and in the end, inspires us. 3 Idiots is the official adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s novel 5 Point Someone.
2. Munnabhai MBBS
Another Rajkumar Hirani comedy film, Munnabhai MBBS is one of the classic Hindi comedy movies on Netflix. The movie stars Sanjay Dutt as the loveable goon Munnabhai who manages to secure a medical seat by deceit to take revenge on Dr.Jagdish (played by Boman Irani). The thought of a local Mumbai goon in a reputed medical college itself makes us laugh, imagine watching that as an entire movie.
3. Delhi Belly
Ok, so if you are planning to watch it with your kids or parents, here’s a reminder; Delhi Belly is more of an adult comedy movie. It was released during a time when such a genre wasn’t really welcome in India. The film received several criticisms for the same reason. But keeping that apart, Delhi Belly is a humorous film. There is a lot to laugh at throughout the movie. Though there are some adult jokes, a fine line has been maintained without turning them into gross and disgusting humor.
4. Golmaal Returns
The second installment of the much-loved Golmaal series, Golmaal Returns has the funny boys come back again to make us burst into peals of laughter. Apart from the characters in the first part (Golmaal Fun Unlimited), there are some new additions like Ekta (played by Kareena Kapoor). Just like the first part, Golmaal Returns directed by Rohit Shetty is funny as hell. You cannot miss it at any cost.
Directed by Raj & DK, Stree is probably the first horror-comedy movie made in Bollywood. The equation balances out and we are in for a fun ride. Stree is about a village haunted by a female ghost ‘Stree’ who targets men in the village and kidnaps them to complete her unrequited love. The film was a fun take on the situation women in this country face relating to their free movement and choice of dress. The writers reverse the role of women here with men. Because of being scared of Stree, the men aren’t allowed to step out or dress the way they want to. Stree is one of the best Hindi comedy movies on Netflix.
Welcome is a Hindi comedy movie that will make even the coming generations laugh. Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar are the scene stealers. They are actors who we seldom think of for such funny parts and I must say, they have nailed it. Nana Patekar plays Uday Shetty, a don who wants his kind-hearted sister married in a decent family while Anil Kapoor plays Majnu, Uday’s cousin. And yes, there is the comedy king of Bollywood, Akshay Kumar, to make the whole film absolutely hilarious.
