When women romanced younger men in movies!

It has become a custom in movies for the girl in the relationship to be a few years younger than the guy. The only relaxation given to this custom is the girl and guy being of the same age. For the girl to be older than the guy, seems highly unacceptable to many. Here is a look at some movies that have women romancing men of much younger age. And it does not seem odd at all like some believe!

1.George and Malar -Premam

George and Malar

Though Premam showed three of George’s (played by Nivin Pauly) love interests, it is Malar (played by Sai Pallavi Senthamarai) that won the nation’s love. George is a college student and Malar is his teacher. We love what they share and when Malar fails to recognize George, we feel so sorry for the couple.

2.Sidharth and Tara – Dil Chahta Hai

dil chahta hai - Akshay Khanna and Dimple Kapadia

Dil Chahta Hai is the story of three friends from college and how they explore life and reinvent their friendship. One of the three friends is Sidharth (played by Akshay Khanna) who falls in love with a woman much older than him. His love for her is ridiculed by his friends which creates a dent in their friendship. What Sid feels for Tara is not just admiration but love and respect for the kind of person she is. Such an intense segment in the narrative during the 2000s seems unlikely but debutant Farhan Akhtar incorporates the story convincingly.

3.Sid and Aisha – Wake Up Sid

And Sid becomes that companion of hers who does not let her feel alone in this big city.

Based on Vikram Seth’s prize-winning novel, A Suitable Boy witnesses the intense romance between Maan Kapoor (Ishaan Khatter) and courtesan Saeeda Bai (played by Tabu). Their chemistry is intoxicating. Set in the immediate post-independence era, their relationship is looked down on by society, and Maan and Saeeda part ways for good.

6. Vincent Pepe and Lichi – Angamaly Diaries

In the above-mentioned films, this age gap between the woman and the man is intentional and has something to offer to the narrative. This is not the case in Angamaly Diaries. Lichi is older than Pepe by three years and it casually becomes part of the story. Lichi’s proposal to Pepe is sweet and something worth remembering.
