Disney+Hotstar may not be the biggest OTT out there but over the past two years, they sure have established themselves in the world of digital streaming. Apart from some really amazing regional movies, Hotstar also has some original web series to their credits. Here’s a list of the five best web series on Hotstar that you are going to love.
1.Special Ops (2020)

Neeraj Pandey is a master of thrillers. His works like A Wednesday, Baby, and Special 26 testify the same. Special Ops marks Neeraj Pandey’s entry into the digital world. It is an espionage thriller that involves the story of RAW agents who are on a mission to track down a dangerous terrorist. The series has an ensemble cast that includes Kay Kay Menon, Divya Dutta, Vinay Pathak, etc. The series had received rave reviews from critics for its gripping narrative and camera work.
2. Criminal Justice (2019)
No. of episodes: 10 (1hr)
The tagline of the show says “Masoom Hai Ya Sirf Dikhta hai?” (Is he really innocent or does he just look like one?). This itself generates a sense of curiosity among us, doesn’t it? Criminal Justice is a crime thriller legal drama web series that is based on the British show of the same name. The series is directed by veteran filmmaker Tigmanshu Dhulia and stars Vikrant Massey, Pankaj Tripathy, and Jackie Shroff in the main roles. Criminal Justice walks us through several courtroom procedures like remand, judicial custody, and hearings. The series does this in the most intriguing and engrossing way.
3. Criminal Justice: Behind closed doors (2020)

Criminal Justice: Behind closed doors is the sequel to Criminal Justice. The series, however, is not a continuation of its prequel but does witness the recurring character of Pankaj Tripathy. Criminal Justice: Behind Closed Doors is a gripping tale morality tale that is going to keep you at the edge of your seat. The film also stars Kirti Kulhari, Jisshu Sengupta, Deepti Naval, and Anupriya Goenka.
4.Aarya (2020)

Dashing beauty Sushmita Sen has never given herself away to the screens much. Over her two-decade-long career, she has been very selective of the projects she wants to be a part of. Aarya is one such selected series where Sushmita not only makes a ravishing comeback but also makes her OTT debut. Sushmita plays the titular character, a mother of three who now has the responsibility to safeguard her family. She, as always, delivers a bewitching performance. The series has been rolled up for another season and is all set to release in 2021.
5. Hostages (2019-2020)
No. of Season: 2
No. of episodes: 22 (30-35 min)
In the first season, Dr. Mira Anand is scheduled to perform surgery on the Chief Minister of the country. But a night before the surgery, her family is taken captive by a bunch of people who threaten to kill her family if she doesn’t kill the Chief Minister. The series ended on a cliffhanger. The second season is in fact the continuation of the first season. Ronit Roy and Tisca Chopra compete with each other to deliver the best performance.
