It is surprising to know that this masterpiece film was actually a box office failure. Based on the novel Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption by Stephen King, The Shawshank Redemption is a thrilling prison break drama. The film fills us with hope for a better life. Andy Dufrene is a banker who is sentenced to imprisonment for the murder of his wife and her lover. The film focuses on the two decades of his life in prison where he befriends fellow prisoner Ellis ‘Red’ Redding (Morgan Freeman).

2. The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2013)

Just like The Shawshank Redemption, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty also opened to lukewarm response in the theatres but eventually earned cult status. Walter Mitty is a 40 something-year-old negative assets manager at Life Magazine. There is nothing exciting in his life and he wants to escape the banal routine for once. Things change for Walter Mitty one day, filling his life full of adventures. The film inspires you to just get out and enjoy life and do things that you always wanted to do.

3. The Blind Side (2009)

The Blind Side starring Sandra Bullock is a biographical sports drama that leaves us satisfied. The film tells the story of Michael Oher, an American footballer who was brought up in impoverished surroundings. With the help of his adoptive parents, Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy (played by Sandra Bullock) Michael overcomes the adverse conditions in his life to become a renowned footballer who played in NFL.

You never know what you’re gonna get.” This is one of the most iconic dialogues from Forrest Gump that sums life’s unpredictability so beautifully. Forrest Gump is a slow-witted and kind man from Alabama, America. The film follows his decades-long life, the adventures he encountered, the lives he touched, and the havoc he created. Tom Hanks’s portrayal of Forrest Gump is so real and innocent that it is hard to not fall in love with the character. Forrest Gump is a movie that will fill you with hope, confidence, and optimism.

5. Good Will Hunting (1997)

Will Hunting (played by Matt Damon) is a 20-year-old janitor at Harvard University with some unrecognized intelligence. Though his potential is noted by one of the professors, Will is not ready to come out and change his life for good. His childhood trauma haunts him every day, making him push away any good thing that comes along his way. With the help of his therapist, Sean Maguire (Robin Williams), Will learns to let go of his past and change his life for the better. With some intensely emotional scenes, Good Will Hunting stays with us forever.

6. The Pursuit of Happyness (2006)

Slightly inspired by the life of American businessman Chris Gardner, The Pursuit of Happyness sheds light on the struggles of a homeless father in taking care of his son and providing him shelter. Chris Gardner works really hard to get a job and earn some money. Certain scenes and dialogues from the movie are simply inspiring.
